Abstract: Article reporting on a study assessing hyoid movement in 40 individuals with myopathy. Hyoid movements are important parameters of swallowing. Means and standard deviations are reported for time of first hyoid movement, hyoid rise time, hyoid return time, and maximum hyoid movement for the 40 participants with myopathy and for the subset diagnostic categories of myotonic dystrophy, limb girdle syndrome, and polymyositis. These data are compared with data from 10 normal individuals.
